Speaking at the “Kayseri Defense Industry Provincial Meetings” organized by the Kayseri Chamber of Industry (KAYSO), KAYSO President Mehmet Büyüksimitçi announced that a Space, Aerospace, and Defense Specialized OIZ will be established in the city with a $1.6 billion investment. During the meeting attended by Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün, it was stated that the mega facility will be established on an area of 3.4 million square meters and that the preliminary feasibility studies have been completed. According to this report, the cost of establishing the Industrial Zone will be approximately $1.6 billion. Emphasizing the need for an increase in technological production in his speech, KAYSO President Büyüksimitçi underscored that the main objectives of the project are to produce high-tech products and increase the localization rate in the defense industry. Products produced using advanced scientific knowledge and innovative technologies are considered high-tech. Examples of such products include satellite systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, space research equipment, radar and communication systems, advanced weapon systems, microchips, semiconductors, smartphones, and high-performance computers. $72 MILLION IN REVENUE

Delivering a presentation to business people at the meeting, Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün stated that 55 companies active in the defense industry in Kayseri generated $72 million in revenue in 2024. Emphasizing the importance of following the support and incentives provided by the Defense Industry Presidency, Görgün stated that they came to Kayseri with the intention of obtaining concrete results and seeing the efforts rewarded. Providing information about the defense industry ecosystem, current projects, and future vision, the Defense Industry President highlighted the city’s potential by stating, “We know that Kayseri can take on more responsibilities in the defense industry field.”

It is anticipated that the establishment of the Industrial Zone will not only enable the production of a wide range of products, from systems that can be used in space research to military vehicles and daily technological needs but also create a significant area of employment in the city.
