200 Million Lira Fines in Exorbitant Price Controls

The Ministry of Trade announced that 9,926 individuals and legal entities were fined a total of 200.9 million lira in inspections targeting exorbitant price increases during Ramadan.

In a statement from the Ministry of Trade, it was reported that inspections continue with sensitivity against practices that may disrupt the economic well-being of citizens before Eid al-Fitr, affect the stable course of the domestic market, and negatively impact the supply and demand balance of consumers.

During the month of Ramadan, 46,474 companies were inspected through Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces. As a result of findings of non-compliance with regulations, 9,525 companies and 46,507 products were fined a total of 134.6 million lira in administrative fines. The statement included the following statements:

“During March, which also includes the month of Ramadan, a total of 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 individuals and legal entities. In the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 655.2 million lira in administrative fines were issued to 27,321 individuals and legal entities. Inspections conducted by Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces resulted in 134.6 million lira in fines in March, and a total of 296.4 million lira in administrative fines in the first 3 months of 2025.”
