394 Billion Lira to be Invested in Eastern Black Sea Region

Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır announced that 394 billion lira will be allocated to the region within the scope of the Eastern Black Sea Project. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, stated that they plan to allocate 394 billion lira to the region in a five-year period with the Eastern Black Sea Project (DOKAP) action plan. Kacır said, “As part of the DOKAP Action Plan, we aim to allocate 394 billion lira for 158 projects that we plan to implement over the five-year period.” The Eastern Black Sea Project includes the provinces of Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Trabzon, Tokat, Amasya, and Çorum. The project aims to accelerate the development of these 11 provinces, where 6 million people reside. In Samsun, investments will be prioritized in the medical, defense, machinery, and automotive sub-industries, while in Trabzon, investments will focus on the shipbuilding industry sectors. Kacır also mentioned that they aim to increase the region’s agricultural gross domestic product from 130 billion lira to 209 billion lira, and the rehabilitated pasture area from 2.8 million decare to 3.5 million decare. He also stated that 30.3 billion lira will be allocated to support investments in the tourism sector, aiming to increase the number of tourists visiting the region from 2.8 million to 4.5 million and the number of overnight stays from 4.9 million to 9 million. A 500 billion lira development move was previously initiated for the Southeastern Anatolia region to enhance regional development. In addition, the Konya Plain Project (KOP), which includes 350 billion TL investment focusing on irrigation, was announced in January. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the projects will continue with Erzurum.
