8.4 Million Vehicles Passed Through Highways During the Holiday

During the Ramadan holiday, a total of 8,425,491 vehicles passed through the highways. The number of passengers at Istanbul Airport increased from 842,367 to 892,810 during these dates. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared the travel data for the period of the Ramadan holiday that was made by road. In a written statement, Minister Uraloğlu noted that a total of 8,425,491 vehicles passed through the highways from March 29 to April 1, including the day of Arefe. According to the data, the number of passengers at Istanbul Airport during the 2024 Ramadan holiday was 842,367, which increased to 892,810 this year. On the day of Arefe and during the Ramadan holiday, the highways connected to the General Directorate of Highways, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, and the July 15 Martyrs Bridge provided free service by Presidential Decree. During these dates, a total of 1,025,593 vehicles used the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, while 810,676 vehicles passed through the July 15 Martyrs Bridge. This year, 1,396,404 vehicles used the North Marmara Highway, compared to 1,207,436 vehicles that passed last year. From March 29 to April 1, 2025, there were 50,582 crossings from the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and 303,569 crossings from the Osmangazi Bridge. Marmaray carried 77,167 more passengers compared to the 2024 Ramadan holiday, with a total of 2,156,902 passengers. Between March 26 and April 1, bus companies operating intercity passenger transportation services carried 2,418,407 passengers on 70,627 trips.
