$8.6 million of salmon exported from Eastern Black Sea

The Turkish salmon export from the Eastern Black Sea region in the January-February period generated revenue of $8,644,938. Ismail Kobya, Chairman of the Aquaculture Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association, stated that 1,234 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from the region in the first two months of the year. Kobya highlighted that this export resulted in earnings of $8,644,938, with Turkish salmon being shipped to 7 countries during this period. Pointing out that the Russian Federation led the Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea in the January-February period, Kobya continued: “From our region, exports to the Russian Federation amounted to $7,356,555. Belarus followed with $460,147 and Vietnam with $308,254. Additionally, Turkish salmon was sold to Japan, Canada, Ukraine, and Georgia during this period.” Kobya mentioned that 92% of the exports were carried out from Trabzon, with the city exporting 1,132 tons of Turkish salmon to 5 countries in the mentioned period, resulting in earnings of $7,964,820. He noted that the Russian Federation, Belarus, and Japan were the top 3 countries for the Turkish salmon exports. Kobya emphasized high expectations for Turkish salmon and expressed dedication to increasing its exports.
