$97 Billion Offer Made by Elon Musk for OpenAI

A clash between two tech giants arose as American billionaire and the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, led an investor group to make a $97.4 billion offer to acquire the developer of Artificial Intelligence ChatGPT, OpenAI. The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, rejected the offer by saying, “If you want, I can buy Twitter for $9.75 billion.”
Elon Musk, along with an investor group, led the offer to acquire OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. The claim was first reported yesterday in the American publication, The Wall Street Journal. Musk, CEO of SpaceX and the social media platform X, led a group of investors who, through Musk’s lawyer, submitted a $97.4 billion offer to the board of OpenAI. According to Musk’s lawyer, the American billionaire argues that OpenAI needs to return to its “former open-source, security-focused, and public-benefit-serving” state.
OPENAI CEO ALTEN REJECTED THE OFFER
The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, declined Musk’s offer through his X platform, saying, “No, thank you. But if you want, we can buy Twitter for $9.74 billion.” Altman used the former name “Twitter” instead of X. Musk responded to this post by calling it a “scam.” OpenAI was founded in 2015 with a non-profit structure, including individuals like Elon Musk and Sam Altman. Musk left the board of directors in 2018.
