According to a report by The Information, the company will part ways with 5% of its workforce on Monday. Approximately 3,600 employees are expected to be affected by the layoff decision previously announced by Meta. The company sent a message to employees on Friday regarding the layoffs.
The message stated that employees who are laid off will have their internal system access terminated within an hour and will be informed about severance packages via email. It is expected that tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Salesforce will reduce their workforce in Silicon Valley this year. The layoffs coincide with a period of increased spending on artificial intelligence.
