Public in Kosovo at the Polling Stations

In Kosovo, the public began casting their votes for the general elections as of 07:00 local time. The government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Kosovo, which has gone to early elections eight times so far, has become the first government to complete its 4-year term.

The public in Kosovo is heading to the polling stations for the general elections. With 1,970,944 registered voters and 104,924 voters abroad, they started casting their votes at 903 polling stations across the country as of 07:00 local time.

Following the war in Kosovo in 1998-1999, the 9th general election will close the polls at 19:00. It was mentioned that more than 125,000 young people who have just turned 18 will vote for the first time in today’s general elections.

To ensure that the elections are conducted safely and fairly, a team of 100 observers appointed by the European Union (EU) is monitoring the process.

COMPETITION FOR 1,280 DEPUTIES FOR 120 SEATS

According to the data of the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, candidates from 28 political formations, including 3 Turkish political parties, the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP), the Innovative Turkish Movement Party (YTHP), and the Kosovo Justice Turkish Party (KATP), are competing to enter the 120-member assembly.

While a total of 1,280 deputies compete for the 120 seats in the assembly, 10 seats are designated for the Serbian community, and 10 for representatives of the Turkish, Bosnian, Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, and Gorani communities in the country.
