Cracks growing in Israel: “We’ve become a laughingstock in the Middle East”

Itamar Ben-Gvir, the leader of the far-right Jewish Power Party who resigned from the National Security Ministry in Israel, criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies, stating that his country has been made a laughingstock in the Middle East.

Ben Gvir, the leader of the Jewish Power Party who resigned from the National Security Ministry in Israel, gave an interview to local radio station “Kol Barama”. Ben-Gvir stated, “Israel has become a laughingstock in the Middle East, and I’m not sure if we understand that yet.”

RECALLS HIS RESIGNATION FROM THE MINISTRY Ben Gvir, who resigned in January in protest of the Netanyahu government’s approval of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, recalled his resignation, stating, “Unfortunately, I was the only one against sending humanitarian aid to Gaza in the government. I could have made a 180-degree change.”

ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GAZA FROM FAR-RIGHT MINISTER Ben-Gvir also criticized Netanyahu’s stance in the face of pressure from the U.S., saying, “You can’t constantly be under pressure. I know it’s not easy to stand up to the U.S. President, but I expect the Prime Minister to tell the truth and not spin tales.” Claiming that Israel should not allow fuel and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, Ben Gvir alleged that these aids end up in “Hamas’s hands.”
