In Turkey, the number of income taxpayers surpassed 2.6 million in 2024. The number of taxpayers for corporate tax approached 1.2 million. According to the compilation based on data from the Revenue Administration, the number of income taxpayers in Turkey increased by 5.2% in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 2,606,489. As of December last year, the number of active taxpayers subject to tax types other than income tax in the simplified method increased annually. The number of income taxpayers reached 2,606,489 as of December 2024, an increase of 128,355 compared to 2023, with a growth rate of 5.2%. Out of these taxpayers, 649,759 are registered in Istanbul, 188,080 in Ankara, and 175,120 in Izmir. Likewise, the number of corporate tax payers increased by 48,031 during the same period, reaching 1,191,375, with a growth rate of 4.2%.

There was also an increase in the number of taxpayers for withholding tax on income, which reached 4,151,166 last year, 189,113 higher than in 2023, reflecting a growth rate of 4.8%. The number of value-added tax (VAT) payers also increased by 152,880 during this period, reaching 3,705,178, with a growth rate of 4.3%. The audits carried out by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance on property owners earning rental income also affected the number of taxpayers. Last year, the number of taxpayers for real estate capital income (RECI – rental income tax) increased by 443,916, reaching 2,710,366, with an increase of 19.6%. In contrast, the number of income taxpayers taxed under the simplified method decreased by 1.4%, dropping to 821,849 during this period.
