First Plum Harvest of the Year: Price Stuns Buyers

In the town of İznik in Bursa, an early plum harvest took place, with the fruit being sold for 7,000 lira per kilo. Mustafa Kutay Ası, a 26-year-old agricultural engineer, grows green plums in his 800-square-meter smart greenhouse during winter, containing 300 plum trees. With both his parents being agricultural engineers, the young entrepreneur’s plums are in demand from all over Turkey and abroad. Despite the high heating costs of the plum greenhouse, Ası tries to meet the high demand from countries like Germany, Qatar, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia. While expressing joy in harvesting the first plums under cover, the young engineer revealed that the price per kilo of the plums harvested in February was 7,000 lira.
