Uraloğlu announced that 5G service will be installed and tested in the stadiums of the four major football teams in the Super Lig.
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made remarks in an A Haber broadcast.
Addressing the readiness of 5G, Minister Uraloğlu said, “We presented it to our President, who then announced it to the public. We want to hold the tender in the first half of this year and receive the first signal in 2026.”
Stating their determination to use local equipment, Uraloğlu said, “I am announcing for the first time here. 5G service will be tested at the stadiums of the top four football teams.”
SOCIAL MEDIA RESTRICTION FOR UNDER 16s
Minister Uraloğlu provided information about the work on restricting social media for those under 16, saying, “We want our children to dedicate more time to their education and growth. The countries that implemented restrictions for those under 16, such as Belgium, the USA, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Ireland, Greece, China, Australia, and Egypt, did not ban smartphones, but made regulations. In some French-language schools in Belgium, smartphones were banned. We do not have banning phones on our agenda, but the Ministry of Education has some applications regarding phone use in schools. Our focus is entirely on working to keep our children under the age of 16 off social media.”
ROBLOX AND DISCORD RESTRICTIONS
Addressing the question of when Roblox and Discord will be reopened, Uraloğlu stated the following: “If Roblox and Discord had met our content creation demands, they would not have needed to close as a result of a court decision or face access restrictions. Therefore, we are working on a regulation in this regard. We do not want to impose restrictions beyond social media platforms. However, since they are closed by a legal process, there is nothing we can say. However, it will be possible for them to reopen through a legal process.”
