TÜSİAD Urges Public Sector to Tighten Belt

TÜSİAD has issued a call for the public sector to tighten its belt. The President of the High Advisory Council, Ömer Aras, stressed the importance of the public sector tightening its belt equally with citizens. The Turkish Industry and Business Association’s (TÜSİAD) ordinary general assembly is taking place in Istanbul today. In his opening speech, TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras mentioned the need to create a secure investment environment by 2024 and the necessity of continued determination in combating inflation by 2025. Aras emphasized the importance of preventing market loss for exporters and stressed the equal importance of the public sector tightening its belt along with citizens. He also highlighted the need for the government to adhere to budget discipline and increase savings in the public sector. TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan also mentioned that, despite supporting economic policies, it cannot be claimed that everything is going smoothly. Turan made a strong statement regarding the importance of law by stating, “We cannot solve internal or external issues without establishing the supremacy of law.”
