Housing Sales Kick Off Strongly Towards 2025

Housing sales in Turkey started quickly towards 2025. In January, 112,173 houses were sold, showing a 40% increase compared to the same month last year. During this period, there was a notable 183% increase in mortgage housing sales.

Housing sales in Turkey increased by 39.7% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 112,173 in total. According to TURKSTAT data, the cities with the highest number of housing sales were Istanbul with 18,912, Ankara with 10,158, and Izmir with 6,634. The cities with the least number of sales were Ardahan with 39, Bayburt with 62, and Tunceli with 80. IMPORTANT INCREASE IN MORTGAGE SALES
Mortgage housing sales in Turkey increased by 182.8% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 16,726. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 14.9%.

In January, 3,856 mortgage housing sales were made as first-hand transactions. FOREIGN HOUSING SALES DECLINE
Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 24.9% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, dropping to 1,547. The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales in January was 1.4%. The cities with the highest number of housing sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 611, Antalya with 469, and Mersin with 118. RUSSIANS LEAD IN SALES
The highest number of housing sales according to nationality was to Russian Federation citizens. In January, the highest number of housing sales by nationality were to Russian Federation with 248, Iran with 162, and Iraq with 103 citizens.
