NASA Engineer Reveals: Where Will “City Killer” Asteroid Hit in 2032?

A space rock referred to as a “city killer” by space scientists is rapidly approaching Earth. NASA Engineer David Rankin has mapped out the “risk corridor” for the asteroid that has a 2.3% chance of colliding with the planet in 2032. The countries where the deadly space rock could strike according to the map. Recently, scientists discovered an asteroid named 2024 YR4 that is 90 meters wide and has a possibility of hitting Earth in 2032. David Rankin, an engineer working on NASA’s Catalina Sky Survey Project, disclosed the potential impact points of the asteroid known as the “city killer.” Taking into account the asteroid’s current orbit, Rankin predicted that 2024 YR4 could collide in a region stretching from the north of South America through Sub-Saharan Africa to Asia. This path includes densely populated areas like Chennai in India and Hainan Island in China. ATOM BOMB LEVEL 500 NASA estimates a 2.3% chance of the asteroid hitting Earth on December 22, 2032. This asteroid, with a diameter of up to 90 meters, could cause extensive damage in populated areas upon impact. Experts indicate that if a collision occurs, the explosion would be equivalent to 500 times the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. 2024 YR4 received a rating of three points on the Torino Scale, classifying it among “destructive” asteroids. Astronomers aim to gather more data to reduce the probability of the asteroid hitting Earth. During this process, the James Webb Space Telescope is expected to provide more accurate estimations of the asteroid’s size and orbit. Despite the low probability of a collision, as the asteroid approaches Earth, more information will be obtained, aiding in a clearer assessment of the risk.
