During a joint press conference held at the Moncloa Palace in Madrid following their meeting, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to “take over” Gaza and displace Palestinians as “unethical” and in violation of international law. Sanchez emphasized that any attempt to disrupt the lives of Palestinians and remove them from their homes would have destabilizing effects regionally and globally. He also highlighted the importance of Arab countries taking the lead in Gaza’s future, reiterating that Gaza belongs to the Palestinians and should be part of a future Palestinian state. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during the press conference, also stated his opposition to forcibly displacing Gazans from their homes.
