In addition to dates, which are in high demand, especially during Ramadan, pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, and various spices are also popular. Shopkeeper Müslüm Deniz, providing information about date sales, said, “We sell dates every year. We have dates for every budget. This year, date prices are at the same level as last year. With prices unchanged, our sales have increased, and this makes us happy. Our customers can shop at affordable prices, and we can continue our sales. Our sales have increased even more this year. Usually, we sell about one ton of dates in a shop every year, but this year we bought two tons of dates and our sales are going very well. We sell not only dates but also products like pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, snacks, and spices. Our date prices vary according to diversity: 60 TL, 120 TL, 200 TL, and 500 TL, among different options available. There are some tips to understand the quality of the dates. For example, the lid covering the date seed should be present. If it is not there, there is a high possibility that the date may be spoiled. Also, quality dates are sweet.” Cafer Kargın, who went shopping for Ramadan, said, “We have started our Ramadan shopping. We bought essential needs such as spices, dates, and sugar for our coffee. We are satisfied with the prices being the same as last year.”
