This situation is also causing an increase in traffic accidents. Bodywork masters say that the number of damaged vehicles coming to their workplaces has increased by 30 to 40 percent.

There is also intense work at the Atatürk Automotive Industrial Site in Maslak. Due to icing, there is seen an increase in accident rates by 35-40 percent.
Part prices for vehicles with minimum damage can reach 70-80 thousand lira. In vehicles with severe damage, costs can reach 400-500 thousand lira.
It is stated that traffic accidents occur because winter tires are not used, warnings are given to the public about icing. Bodywork masters generally state that accidents occur in the front or on bends.
Masters express that due to ignorance, citizens install snow tires on the front of front-wheel drive vehicles, and accidents occur when snow tires are not installed on the rear. Experts emphasize that when buying winter tires, the tread depth should not fall below five millimeters and tires should be used for a maximum of four years.
