Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, engaged in a busy diplomatic traffic at the G20 meetings. Posts were shared on the social media account of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance regarding the meetings conducted by Şimşek within the framework of the G20 meetings held in Cape Town, South Africa. According to the posts, Şimşek met with the German Finance Minister Jörg Kukies, Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, President of the EU Council and Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and French Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industry Eric Lombard. During the meetings, Şimşek and his counterparts discussed bilateral relations, Turkey-EU relations, the importance of regional integration, mutual investment, trade issues, and cooperation opportunities in third countries. Furthermore, Şimşek also held a meeting with Japanese State Minister Hiroaki Saito. During the meeting, Şimşek thanked Minister Saito for Japan’s support of Turkey’s status change in the Asian Development Bank and the assistance provided after the earthquake.
