Operation “change” on vehicles in Diyarbakır

In Diyarbakır, 7 people were arrested in the operation called ‘Trampa’ targeting a gang that seizes the motor and chassis numbers of vehicles that became unusable due to earthquakes and accidents, copies them onto stolen or foreign vehicles, and sells them. The suspects’ assets worth 36 million 430 thousand TL were also seized.
The Auto Theft Bureau of the Provincial Security Directorate carried out the operation targeting suspects who are identified to have replaced the chassis numbers of vehicles rendered unusable in Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, copied them onto stolen or foreign vehicles, and released them onto the market under the name ‘Trampa’. It was determined that the suspects changed the chassis numbers of 30 vehicles using this method, presented them as repaired in an industrial area, and sold them to other individuals in good faith to make an undeserved profit. As a result of the operation targeting the suspects, 7 people were apprehended and taken into custody, while searches conducted in their homes and workplaces led to the seizure of unlicensed firearms and motor blocks with tampered numbers. The suspects’ assets totaling 36 million 430 thousand liras were confiscated. The suspects were arrested by the court and sent to prison.
