Turkmen Gas Arriving in Turkey

Tomorrow, Turkmen gas will set off for Turkey. Energy Minister Bayraktar announced that Turkmen gas would meet the needs of 1.5 million households. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Turkmen gas deliveries will begin tomorrow, with 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas arriving by the end of the year to meet the needs of 1.5 million households. Bayraktar mentioned that for the first time in over 20 years, Turkey will receive gas from a country beyond its borders through a pipeline. He added that the supply process will be carried out through a swap method, contributing directly to Turkey’s long-term energy supply strategy. Bayraktar stated that negotiations began in 1998 and after 27 years, a result has been achieved with Turkmenistan, extending the agreement for another 5 years. The gas coming from Turkmenistan through the Devletabad-Serahs-Hangeran Natural Gas Pipeline to Iran will be delivered to Turkey through a swap. The gas received at the Iran-Turkey natural gas connection point in Gürbulak will then be used in Turkey.
