Retirees are eagerly anticipating bonuses: How much will retirement holiday bonuses for retirees be in 2025? (SSK, Bağ-Kur, Retirement Fund)

With the arrival of the Ramadan month, millions of retirees have shifted their focus to bonuses. While widows and orphans receiving pensions can benefit from bonuses according to their share rates, retirees from SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Retirement Fund, as well as champion athletes, elderly pension recipients, civilians affected by terrorism, and many other eligible individuals will benefit from the Ramadan holiday bonus payments. There is no application screen for retirement holiday bonus payments. Retirement bonuses will be transferred to accounts through the banks where retirement pensions are received. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance are working on bonus payments. Possible bonuses have been calculated individually based on the rate of increase. So, how much will the retirement holiday bonus be in 2025? Here are the developments regarding retirement holiday bonus increases…The Ramadan holiday will begin this year on March 30th. Before the 3-day holiday break, bonus payments for retirees will be transferred to their accounts. Last year, bonuses were increased by 50% to 3,000 Turkish liras. Retirement bonuses are paid before both the Ramadan and Eid al-Adha holidays. While the increase for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Retirement Fund retirees in January was 15.75%, retirees are now focused on bonus rate increases. Since there was only one increase per year in retirement bonuses in previous periods, it is expected that bonuses will increase by more than 15.75%. Calculations have been made individually based on possible bonus rate increases of 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Here are the calculations for the retirement holiday bonus increases…In previous years, retirement holiday bonuses have started to be deposited into accounts at least a week before the holiday. This year, it is expected that retirement bonuses will be deposited into accounts between March 24-28, 2025. Retirement holiday bonuses will be deposited through the banks where the pensions are received, based on the last digit of the allocation number. While it is expected that the increase in retirement holiday bonuses will be over 15%, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance continues to work on bonus rate increases. An exact figure for the rate of increase has not been announced yet. Once the rate is determined, the bonus will be discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and will come into effect with the approval of President Erdoğan.After increasing the rate by the January increase rate (15.75%), retirement holiday bonuses will be 3,472 Turkish liras. Considering inflation, if there is a similar increase to the one made last year (2024), bonuses will be increased by 50% and reach 4,500 Turkish liras. If there is a 40% increase, bonuses will increase by 1,200 liras and be 4,200 Turkish liras. The exact rate of increase will be determined after the work is completed. In addition to SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Retirement Fund retirees, new retirees who qualify for retirement before the holiday will also receive bonuses.Elderly pension recipients can receive bonuses, while widows and orphans receiving pensions will benefit from payments according to their share rates. For example, those who receive 70% of the retirement bonus from the widow’s pension will receive the bonus at that rate, while those who receive 30% as a death pension will benefit from the bonus according to this share. Bonus payments will be made to those receiving duty disability pension, disability pension, death pension, continuous incapacity income, relatives of martyrs, veterans, combat veterans, security guards, champion athletes, civilians affected by terrorism, and more.
