BİM Appeals 1.3 Billion Lira Fine

BİM has officially initiated the appeal process for the record 1.3 billion lira fine. In a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) from the company, it was reported that an appeal petition was submitted to the Competition Authority Presidency requesting the revocation of the 1.3 billion lira fine.

REASON FOR HISTORIC FINE: DATA DELETION
The Competition Authority imposed a 1.3 billion lira fine on BİM after determining that an employee at the management level had deleted data from a work device during an examination regarding the company.

The Authority stated that the on-site inspection was obstructed and impeded.

BİM: UNJUST PENALTY
In the initial statement made by BİM, it was claimed that the penalty was unjust and that there was no action that warranted a penalty.

The company alleged that the employee who deleted the messages in the messaging application on a personal phone was not in a position to influence company decisions and that the messages were restored.
