According to the statement from the ministry, within the scope of the campaign launched on April 26, 2023, citizens are receiving new and earthquake-resistant homes, while the support of “Half is Ours” continues for urgent transformation needed in Istanbul. For those wishing to renovate their homes in Istanbul, where there are 600 thousand risky houses and workplaces, a grant of 700 thousand lira, a 700 thousand lira loan, and a 100 thousand lira moving support are provided for each house. The loan, with no interest in the first year, starts repayments 2 years after obtaining the building permit and is spread over a 10-year term. In area-based major transformations under the campaign, a grant support of 700 thousand lira is provided. In projects undertaken by TOKI or Emlak Konut GYO, the grant amount is deducted from the building cost, while the remaining debt is installment into long-term affordable payment terms. The transformation of 15 thousand homes and workplaces with “Half is Ours” continues in Istanbul. Murat Kurum’s Sharing: Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum shared images of citizens moving into their renewed homes in Zeytinburnu on his social media account. He stated, “For Mikail Bey and his family, there is no more fear, only peace and happiness. Because they benefited from our ‘Half is Ours’ campaign, transformed their homes. Let us transform your nest as well.” Previously, especially stating that his grandchildren couldn’t sleep due to the fear of earthquakes, tradesman Mikail Keleş recorded the following: “My grandchildren couldn’t sleep since the building was old. They were saying, ‘Grandpa, is our building old? Will it collapse, please do something?’ We were afraid. But now, we don’t have that fear anymore. You see the inside of our house, we sit comfortably. If it was old, we wouldn’t be able to sit like this right now. Our Ministry helped us. If it wasn’t for them, we couldn’t build this house. We benefited from the ‘Half is Ours’ campaign. We received rent assistance. I recommend it to our people. I am addressing all of Turkey. When people ask, go immediately, apply. I say, benefit from it as well.” Mikail Keleş’s granddaughter Ayşe Keleş also mentioned that she used to sleep with the lights on due to her fear of earthquakes, saying, “Now I have a nicer room. I sleep comfortably in my room. I don’t leave the lights on. Apply, so that your children won’t be scared like me. Demand from parents, half from the state.” Halise Keleş emphasized the need for citizens to apply to the campaign, saying, “My husband heard about it on TV, he went and applied. I also say, go and make your application. Because half of it goes from our state, half from us. Thank God for everyone. Our face is really shining. Our children, grandchildren were young, always scared. Now, when we go to bed at night, there is no fear of earthquakes, we are peaceful. Every child deserves to grow up without stress.” Yılmaz Arslan mentioned that they saw the campaign’s advertisements on TV. Referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan always promoting the campaign, Arslan said, “Our neighbors went and applied. We found out that it was approved for us. God says, ‘The measures are from you, the fates are from Me.’ We received a grant of 700 thousand lira, and rent assistance. The state helps you, gives you half. It doesn’t get any better than this. We have personal safety, property security. You sleep peacefully, don’t even think about earthquakes. We tell everyone, we got it, you should too, make your building.”
