According to the statement from Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Oncu Keceli, the Charge d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Ankara was summoned.
During the meeting, bilateral issues were discussed. Keceli stated the following in his announcement:
“We regularly meet and exchange views with Iranian officials. Today, we invited the Charge d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy to our Ministry. During the meeting, bilateral issues were addressed. We also brought up some of the allegations made by Iranian officials against Turkey. We have observed that Iranian officials have been voicing their criticisms towards Turkey more prominently in public lately. We had previously sent a dossier on this matter to the Iranian side. Ultimately, we believe that issues related to foreign policy should not be used as political fodder.
In this context, we prefer to directly convey critical messages that should be addressed to another country’s authorities. Today, we chose to follow this path. We place great value on our relationship with Iran. Strengthening the ties between Turkey and Iran is important to us.”
