Egyptian President Sisi’s Call for Gaza Plan

Egyptian President Abdelfattah el-Sisi stated, “We call for the acceptance of our plan that ensures the Palestinian people’s right to rebuild their homeland and remain on their lands.” speaking at the extraordinary Arab League Summit in the capital, Cairo, on the topic of “Palestine.” Sisi highlighted that the summit took place under the shadow of a regional crisis, emphasizing the serious problems threatening the security and stability of the Middle East. Describing the attacks on Gaza as a stain on humanity’s history characterized by the spread of hatred and lack of justice, Sisi expressed that Israel’s assaults on Gaza destroyed the basic necessities of life. He noted that the Palestinians in Gaza were forced to choose between “survival and displacement.” The commitment of the Palestinian people to their land serves as an example and demonstrates their steadfast resolve to obtain their rights, according to Sisi. He mentioned Egypt’s efforts in collaboration with Qatar and other “brotherly countries” towards a ceasefire since the first day of the attacks in Gaza, highlighting the formation of an independent committee consisting of Palestinian security forces responsible for the administration of the Gaza Strip. Sisi urged for the acceptance of their plan that safeguards the right of the Palestinian people to rebuild their homeland and remain on their lands, calling for financial support for the plan. Addressing the violations by Israel in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, Sisi categorically rejected the violations against Palestinians in the West Bank and warned about the consequences of ongoing attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque disrupting the status quo. Stressing that true peace cannot exist without the establishment of a Palestinian state, Sisi emphasized that peace cannot be forced or imposed. Sisi also suggested that US President Donald Trump could put an end to tensions and attacks in the Middle East, noting that the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel serves as a role model for transforming wartime into peace and prosperity.
