Maruf mentioned that 2,000 women and girls became “permanently disabled” after losing some of their organs, 162 women caught infectious diseases during this period, and dozens of women were subjected to various tortures in Israeli prisons. Maruf also shared the following information: “13,901 women became widows. 17,000 mothers lost their children. 50,000 pregnant women lost their babies in their wombs due to inhumane conditions before giving birth.” Maruf emphasized that Israel continued the blockade and obstructed humanitarian aid, highlighting that women in Gaza struggled to survive in hunger and thirst.
HAMAS: WEST’S DOUBLE STANDARD
In their statement, Hamas stated, “The killing of 12,000 women, injury and detention of thousands, and displacement of hundreds of thousands in Gaza is a stain on humanity.” Hamas expressed that Palestinian female prisoners were subjected to psychological and physical torture in clear violation of all international norms and agreements. They added that the suffering of Palestinian female prisoners exposes the “double standards” of Western countries, including the United States, towards the Palestinians.
