Rush on the Ground Beef Price Cut by Half in Ramadan

Due to the arrival of the month of Ramadan, a chain of supermarkets across the country in Turkey offered discounts on meat products at their branches. The market, which attracted intense interest due to the discounts, saw long queues forming at the butcher counter.

With the onset of Ramadan, some markets decided to stabilize prices of meat products.

Following this decision, citizens wanting to buy meat at a cheaper price formed long queues at a chain store that had updated its prices.

The price of minced meat, which usually ranges between 500 and 600 Turkish Liras per kilogram in butcher shops, was offered for sale at 379 Turkish Liras. Citizens from surrounding districts flocked to the Haramidere market in order to buy cheaper meat. Those waiting in line for minutes expressed that the prices were worth the wait. Market manager Uğur Ekiz stated that Ramadan creates a significant demand in the food sector, indicating that there is an increased interest in meat and other essential food products during this time. Ekiz stated, “Ramadan brings abundance. There is particularly high demand for our butcher counter. We have implemented discounts at our branches across Turkey. Throughout Ramadan, we have fixed the prices of red meat. We offered minced meat at 379 TL and diced meat at 399 TL. In addition, we have made discounts of up to 50% on all essential foods, especially from oil to tomato paste. We will continue this campaign until the end of Ramadan.” Ekiz said that they are doing their best for citizens to benefit from the campaign and mentioned that the discounts will continue after Ramadan. Emphasizing the high demand for red meat products, especially minced meat and diced meat, Ekiz stated, “There is a substantial increase in white meat group as well. Additionally, we sell approximately 15-20 tons of meat daily. We cannot keep up with the demand for meat and have to wait. Providing fresh, clean, and reliable products is very important to us. We prepare our products in a hygienic environment every day and offer them as quality and halal cuts. Our aim is to share the abundance of Ramadan with our people and meet them with these products at affordable prices.” “I WAITED FOR HALF AN HOUR BUT IT WAS WORTH IT” Ahmet Yapıcı, who waited in line for half an hour to buy meat, expressed that the prices were worth it, saying, “The prices here are really good. The meat is quality, and we always buy it. There is a significant difference compared to the prices outside on some products. I have been in line for half an hour, but it’s worth it,” expressing his satisfaction. Another customer, Melahat Doğru, said, “The prices are very good, I also bought a kilogram of meat. I have been in line for an hour, but it’s worth it. I came from Avcılar. The products are really high quality, and the prices are very reasonable,” she said.
