Startling Research: Fatal Disease Risk Increases in Married Men

In a scientific study on the effects of marriage on physical health, some striking results have emerged.
A new study conducted in Poland revealed that the risk of obesity in married men is three times higher compared to single men. Experts highlighted that this risk is valid for both genders, but men are at a greater risk.
In the study analyzing the health data of approximately 2,500 individuals, it was found that the likelihood of married men being overweight was 62% higher than unmarried individuals, while for married women, this rate was 39%.
AGE ALSO CONTRIBUTES TO THE RISK
Scientists mentioned that marriage is not the sole factor increasing the risk, as the probability of obesity also rises with age. It was observed that for each year of age increase, the risk of obesity in women increased by 6%, and in men by 4%.
Dr. Alicja Cicha-Mikolajczyk emphasized that age and marital status have a significant impact on being overweight or obese regardless of gender.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, out of the 2,405 participants in the study, 35% were at a healthy weight, 38% were overweight, and 26% were obese.
This study is not the first one indicating that marriage increases the risk of obesity in men. In another study conducted in China last year, it was analyzed that married men consumed more calories in the first five years after marriage.
CAN LEAD TO FATAL DISEASES
Obesity is a health problem characterized by excessive fat accumulation in the body, often developing when the body mass index is over 30.
Obesity can lead to many serious health issues such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory problems, joint diseases, sleep apnea, and some types of cancer. Besides causing psychological problems, obesity can negatively impact individuals’ quality of life.
