Construction Daily Wages Skyrocketed: Reaching 7,000 lira

Construction activities continue intensely in earthquake-prone areas. While daily wages for workers in big cities reach up to 4,500 lira, in earthquake-prone areas this figure rises to 7,000 lira. Construction works are ongoing in nearly 3,500 construction sites in the earthquake zone. The intense construction activities in the region directly affect the daily wages of workers. According to a report in Türkiye Newspaper, a construction worker’s daily wage in Istanbul reaches 4,500 lira, while it exceeds 7,000 lira in the earthquake-prone area. Industry officials note that the majority of skilled workers have moved to the region, highlighting a labor shortage in Istanbul. Authorities point out that master craftsmen have also moved to the earthquake zone, leading to similar price demands in big cities. It is reported that there are 182,000 construction workers operating in the region.
