Plane Crash in Somalia: 5 People Dead

In the plane crash that occurred in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu, 5 people lost their lives. According to a written statement from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), the DHC-5D Buffalo model aircraft, which departed from South Somalia yesterday, crashed approximately 24 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu. The crash, which took place around 17:40 local time, resulted in the death of 5 crew members of Kenyan nationality. A statement from the Somali government indicated that a preliminary investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, and search and rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. The DHC-5 Buffalo aircraft is frequently used for transportation and humanitarian aid operations in remote and challenging areas. Known for its ability to take off and land at small airports, this aircraft provides a suitable option for Somalia’s harsh conditions.
