Investigation Launched for 1.3 Million Ford Trucks in the US

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US has initiated an investigation into around 1.3 million Ford trucks due to a mechanical issue. According to the statement issued by the NHTSA, the investigation covers the 2015-2017 model F-150 trucks. The statement mentioned that there have been 138 consumer complaints indicating that the transmission unexpectedly and undesirably shifts to a lower gear without warning or driver involvement while driving. This unexpected downshifting reportedly causes the vehicle to slow down suddenly and rapidly, with some complaints noting that the rear wheels of the vehicle temporarily lock during downshifting, leading to potential loss of control, accidents, and increased risk of injury. The statement also noted that approximately 1.3 million Ford F-150 trucks are under investigation in this regard.
