Disaster in the Red Sea: Submarine carrying 44 tourists sank

A significant number of people lost their lives as a tourist submarine carrying 44 passengers sank off the coast of the Red Sea in Egypt. The incident happened near the city of Hurghada on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, resulting in at least six fatalities and nine injuries. Out of the 44 passengers aboard the submarine, 29 were rescued unharmed. Four injured individuals were transferred to nearby hospitals, with four of them being in critical condition. The submarine, named “Sindbad,” reportedly sank close to the port.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE SUBMARINE? Sindbad has been organizing tourist trips in the Hurghada region for several years. The company claims to own two out of the 14 “entertainment submarines” worldwide. Tourists have the opportunity to explore “500-meter coral reefs and marine life” by traveling up to 25 meters underwater. According to the information on the website of Sindbad Submarines, the submarine has 44 passenger seats, two pilot seats, and a large circular viewing window for each passenger.
