The European Commission is set to invest 1.3 billion euros in artificial intelligence and cyber security within the next two years.
The European Union has redirected its focus towards cyber security.
The European Commission announced that it will invest 1.3 billion euros in digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, data, and cyber security, by 2027.
The funding will be provided under the Digital Europe Program (DIGITAL), which aims to develop strategic technologies within the EU and strengthen the continent’s technological sovereignty.
Among the program’s priorities are increasing the usability and accessibility of productive artificial intelligence applications, enhancing the EU’s cyber resilience, and building a strong digital world model to support climate adaptation and disaster risk management.
With a budget of 8.1 billion euros for the period 2021-2027, DIGITAL is the EU’s first financing program entirely focused on the digital transformation of businesses and citizens.
