Flooding in Skopje after rain: Homes flooded

It was reported that heavy rainfall caused flooding in the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje. Dozens of homes were damaged in the flood in the village of Batinci, which is part of the Studenicani Municipality near Skopje. Following the rain that intensified last night in the country, the Markova River overflowed, resulting in flooding in Batinci village and damage to roads. Municipality Mayor Azem Sadiki stated to journalists that there were no casualties in the flood that occurred after the rainfall intensified last night. Sadiki said, “The situation here was very serious last night. Due to the river overflowing, dozens of homes in the village were flooded, but we are lucky that there was no greater damage.” He noted that municipality teams, with the support of private companies, immediately started the necessary work to prevent the river from overflowing further, and reported that the water level in the river had decreased. Sadiki emphasized that the bridge in the village had suffered minor damage due to the flood, but it has been reopened for use. Meanwhile, it was reported that floods also occurred in the villages of Ljubosh, Pintija, Gorno Lisiche, and Dolno Lisiche in the region, in addition to Batinci.
