52 children dead in Gaza due to hunger, death toll may rise

In the occupied Gaza Strip, where Israel has been carrying out genocide since October 7, inadequate nutrition and hunger have caused the death of 52 children. Concerns are growing about an increase in deaths if food supplies are not provided.

Deputy Health Minister of Gaza, Yusuf Abu Er-Rish, provided information about the humanitarian situation and health conditions in Gaza. In Gaza, 59% of essential medicines and 37% of medical supplies have been depleted. With border crossings closed in Gaza, the health condition of 13,000 patients and injured individuals in need of transfer has deteriorated. It was emphasized that inadequate nutrition exacerbates the risk of death due to malnutrition and anemia, with 52 children having died from this cause, and new deaths are expected if access to food is not ensured.

274 BABIES BORN AFTER OCTOBER 7 WERE KILLED

It was highlighted that in Gaza, 274 babies born after October 7, 2023, were killed in Israeli bombings.

It was stated that Gaza’s hospitals urgently require oxygen stations to continue providing medical care to the injured and ill, many emergency interventions are not possible due to the lack of medical equipment, and the healthcare service itself is at risk of coming to a halt due to fuel shortages.

Directly targeting ambulances and humanitarian aid teams poses a significant obstacle to the evacuation of the injured. The destruction of water pipelines and environmental risks further contribute to the spread of diarrheal diseases and skin conditions.

PALESTINIANS DEPRIVED OF HEALTH RIGHTS

Furthermore, in a written statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah on the occasion of “World Health Day” on April 7, it was emphasized that millions of Palestinians are still deprived of their health rights. Women, children, the elderly, and the sick in Gaza face the risk of death because they cannot receive treatment due to hospital and medicine shortages, while doctors work under limited resources and challenging conditions in hospitals directly targeted. The statement appealed to the international community, stating, “The health of Palestinians is not a luxury, but a right guaranteed by international laws and inherent dignity. It is time for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and put an end to this health and humanitarian disaster our people are facing.”
