Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that following the customs tariffs, Turkey will engage in a negotiation process with the United States. Yılmaz emphasized that the discussions will also address the Halkbank issue. During the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Yılmaz responded to questions from Bloomberg by stating that a negotiation process involving the Halkbank matter with the US will take place. He highlighted the positive atmosphere in the new era of US-Turkey relations and how it may impact the Halkbank case. Yılmaz expressed confidence that leaders at different levels will engage in discussions to resolve these issues, which he believes will be beneficial for Turkey-US relations economically and in other respects. He recalled Trump’s favorable personal views on this matter and stressed that discussions will continue at all levels in this new period. Yılmaz expressed hope that finding solutions to these issues and allowing both countries, as strong allies in NATO with various economic, commercial, and other agendas, to move on from these topics and focus on their main agendas would be more beneficial for both nations. Yılmaz also mentioned that the impact analyses of customs tariffs will be addressed in the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee, emphasizing that the main goal with the US is a trade volume of $100 billion.
