The Fed, also revealing its predictions for the economy, kept its estimate for the federal funds rate at 3.9% for the end of this year, the same as forecasted in December last year. The Fed left its predictions for the federal funds rate for 2026 and 2027, as well as the long-term average interest rate expectation, at 3.4%, 3.1%, and 3%, respectively. The forecasts signaled that the Fed continued to anticipate 2 interest rate cuts in 2025.The Bank’s inflation forecasts were raised from 2.5% to 2.7% for this year, while it remained at 2.1% for 2026 and was kept at 2% for 2027. Forecasts for core inflation, excluding volatile energy and food prices, were revised from 2.5% to 2.8% for this year, while they were kept at 2.2% for 2026 and 2% for 2027. The growth forecast for the US economy was lowered from 2.1% to 1.7% for this year, from 2% to 1.8% for next year, and from 1.9% to 1.8% for 2027. Unemployment rate forecasts remained at 4.3% for this year, next year, and 2027.
