Administrative fines of 200.9 million lira imposed on those engaging in excessive price hikes

During the month of Ramadan, administrative fines totaling 200.9 million lira were imposed on 9,926 individuals found to have unfairly raised prices.
The Ministry of Trade continues its inspections during the Ramadan period.
According to a statement from the Ministry, following the inspections, it was announced that 200.9 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 9,926 real and legal persons who engaged in unfair and excessive price hikes.
The statement included the following remarks:
“During the month of Ramadan, in March, administrative fines totaling 200.9 million TL were imposed on 9,926 real and legal persons, while in the first 3 months of 2025 (January-March), a total of 655.2 million TL in administrative fines were imposed on 27,321 real and legal persons. Specifically before the holiday, throughout the month of Ramadan, our Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces conducted inspections in the month of March alone, with 46,474 companies being inspected. As a result of identifying discrepancies in 9,525 companies and 46,507 products, a total of 134.6 million TL in administrative fines were imposed. In total, during the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 296.4 million TL in administrative fines were imposed on 25,783 real and legal persons as a result of inspections carried out by our Trade Provincial Directorates. In the first 3 months of 2025, our Trade Provincial Directorates inspected a total of 108,802 companies and 8,922,234 products.”
