Agreement Signed: SDG to Join Syrian Army

The Syrian Presidency announced that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will join the Syrian Army. According to the statement, an agreement was reached for the SDG to join state institutions. The agreement signed between Syrian President Ahmed Sha and Mazlum Abdi in Damascus consists of 8 points.

A post made by the Syrian Presidency highlighted that an agreement emphasizing the unity of Syrian territories and rejecting division was signed between President Ahmed Sha and Ferhad Abdi Shahin.

According to the 8-point agreement, the Kurdish community will obtain constitutional guarantees as part of Syria. Border crossings, oil and gas fields will be under Syrian state control. All threats to Syria’s security and unity will be fought against. The 8 points of the agreement are as follows: 1. Ensuring the representation and political participation rights of all Syrians regardless of their religious or ethnic background based on merit. 2. Recognition of the Kurdish community as an integral part of Syria with their constitutional rights guaranteed. 3. Ceasefire across all Syrian territories. 4. Integration of all civilian and military institutions in northeast Syria, including border crossings, airports, oil and gas fields, under state administration. 5. Ensuring the return of all displaced Syrians under state protection to their homeland. 6. Supporting the fight against threats to Assad’s control, security, and unity of Syria. 7. Rejecting calls for separation, hate speech, and attempts to sow discord among various components of Syrian society. 8. Implementation committees will work to enforce the agreement by the end of the year.

A photo post made by the Syrian Presidency’s X account emphasized the integration of the agreement into the Syrian Arab Republic institutions, envisaging territorial unity and rejecting division. The post also included the signed agreement text. The document stated that “Syrians’ participation and representation in political processes and state institutions are guaranteed based on merit, regardless of their religious and ethnic backgrounds,” while also mentioning that “The Kurdish community is an essential component of the Syrian state, and the state guarantees citizenship rights and all constitutional rights.” Other highlighted expressions in the text include: “Ensuring a ceasefire across all Syrian territories; integrating all civilian and military institutions in northeast Syria, including border crossings, airports, oil and gas fields, under Syrian state administration; supporting the battle against elements threatening Assad’s regime remnants and the country’s security and unity; rejecting calls for division, hate speech, or attempts to sow discord among all components of Syrian society; and the executive committees will work towards implementing the agreement within this year.”
