Agricultural input prices increased

The Agricultural Input Price Index showed an annual increase of 32.49% in December 2024, along with a monthly increase of 2.13%.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released data on the Agricultural Input Price Index (Agri-GPI) for the month of December last year. According to the data, the index rose by 2.13% compared to the previous month, 32.49% compared to December of the previous year, and by 40.94% based on the twelve-month average in December 2024.

Compared to the previous month, there was a 1.9% increase in the index for goods and services used in agriculture, and a 3.46% increase in the index for goods and services contributing to agricultural investment. Compared to the same month of the previous year, there was a 30.62% increase in the index for goods and services used in agriculture, and a 44.23% increase in the index for goods and services contributing to agricultural investment. According to the annual Agri-GPI, 4 subgroups showed a decrease, while 7 subgroups showed an increase in change. The subgroups with the lowest increase compared to the previous year were determined to be fertilizers and soil improvers at 21.45% and agricultural chemicals at 22.14%. The subgroups with the highest increase compared to the previous year were seeds and planting materials at 52.31% and other goods and services at 52.07%, respectively. By monthly Agri-GPI, 8 subgroups showed a decrease, while 3 subgroups showed an increase in change. The subgroups that decreased were listed as other goods and services at 0.49% and buildings at 0.6%. The subgroups with the highest monthly increase were materials at 3.86% and fertilizers and soil improvers at 2.98%.
