Ahmed Shaar: Events in Gaza a Warning Alarm for the Entire Region

Syrian President Ahmed Shaar stated that the events in Gaza serve as a warning alarm for the entire region. Shaar emphasized that the displacement of Palestinians forms the core of a comprehensive project aiming to uproot the Palestinian people from their land.
Speaking at the Extraordinary Arab League Summit on Palestine held in Cairo, Syrian President Shaar highlighted that Syria’s return to the Arab League signifies its commitment to enhancing the region’s security and stability. He expressed concern about new initiatives attempting to redraw the region’s map at the expense of Palestinian bloodshed.
Shaar rejected calls for the displacement of Palestinians, labeling them as a threat to the Arab nation. He stressed that such plans are the foundation of a larger project to displace the Palestinian people from their land. Shaar urged Arab nations to unite their stances and take responsibility for the Palestinian people, stating that the situation in Gaza should serve as a wake-up call for all.
Shaar affirmed Syria’s readiness to provide assistance to Gaza and halt attacks. He vowed that the Syrian people would stand by their Palestinian brothers in every step towards liberation and justice. Emphasizing support for the Palestinians’ right to return to their lands and determine their own destiny, Shaar condemned Israel’s continued violation of Syrian rights.
Addressing the international community, Shaar called for pressure on Israel to withdraw immediately from southern Syria. He underscored Syria’s commitment to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement with Israel, deeming Israel’s disregard for the agreement unacceptable. Shaar criticized Israel for deepening its occupation of Syrian territories in the Golan Heights since 1967.
The Israeli army, on December 8, seized the buffer zone adjacent to the Golan Heights, advancing towards Damascus within 20 kilometers. Despite claiming the occupation as temporary, Israel is pushing for the demilitarization of the southern region, infringing upon Syria’s sovereignty.
