Another Disaster Averted: US Plane Covered in Smoke, Passengers Evacuated with Slide!

In the state of Georgia, United States, passengers were evacuated after the cabin of a plane belonging to Delta Air Lines was filled with smoke. The plane had 94 passengers, 2 pilots, and 3 flight attendants on board.

According to the statement issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a Boeing 717 passenger plane owned by Delta Air Lines returned to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after taking off due to “haze or smoke” seen inside the cabin. Both Delta Air Lines and the FAA stated that the plane with 94 passengers, 2 pilots, and 3 flight attendants onboard returned to Atlanta due to an issue during its flight to South Carolina and landed safely. In video recordings shared by some passengers on social media, passengers on the plane were seen covering their heads and faces with their clothes to avoid inhaling the cabin smoke, and then evacuating the plane using the slide after landing. Delta officials apologized to the passengers for the incident, while FAA officials mentioned that an investigation was initiated to determine the source of the problem.

On February 1, in Philadelphia, six people lost their lives after a medical plane crashed near a shopping center. Additionally, on February 17, another incident involved a passenger plane of Delta Air Lines that flipped during its landing at an airport in the Ontario province of Canada, resulting in injuries to 18 out of the 80 passengers on board.
