Applications Open for Turkey-Syria Electricity Trade

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) announced the start of capacity allocation applications for electricity trade between Turkey and Syria. According to the announcement on the institution’s website, legal entities holding supply or production licenses who wish to export electricity to Syria and legal entities holding supply licenses who wish to import electricity from Syria must apply to the EPDK by the end of the working day on Tuesday, April 1st, using the Reyhanlı-Afrin Interconnection Line. Additionally, the supply license holder STE Electricity Supply Wholesale Sales Import Export Limited Company has applied for a license amendment to increase the existing capacity from 40 megawatts to a maximum of 100 megawatts by using the isolated zone feeding method for exporting electricity to Syria through the current line by December 15th.
