Approval granted for the sale of a sports giant

The Competition Authority has approved the transfer of MACFit sports clubs, with 121 branches in Turkey, to Benefit Systems.
Allowing the transfer of Mars Sports Club and Facilities Management Inc., which includes the MACFit sports chain, to Poland-based Benefit Systems S.A., the Competition Authority has given its approval. Along with the decision, Poland-based Benefit Systems will acquire all shares of Mars Sports.
The agreement, valued at 420 million dollars, is considered significant for the fitness industry in Turkey. Mars Sports, with 121 MACFit branded fitness clubs nationwide, made a name for itself in major cities, especially with investments from Esas Holding and private equity fund Actera Group in 2010.
