Are there price increases for red meat? Statement from butchers

Denial has been made regarding the claims of price increases for red meat. The President of the Istanbul Butchers Association, Tüfekçi, stated that prices will be frozen until the end of Ramadan and there will be no price increases. Prior to Ramadan, there were reports of a 10-15% price increase for red meat, which were denied by industry representatives. Providing information to NTV, the President of the Istanbul Butchers Association, Aydın Tüfekçi, mentioned that producers demanded a price increase, but as merchants they refused it. Tüfekçi stated, “Supermarkets have already made agreements with the Meat and Milk Institution, there will be no price increases until the end of Ramadan.” Member supermarkets of the Istanbul Association of Food and Essential Goods Retailers (PERDER) and the Ankara Association of Food and Essential Goods Retailers had announced two weeks ago that red meat prices would be fixed until the end of Ramadan. Accordingly, minced meat will be sold for 379 lira and diced meat for 399 lira until the end of Ramadan.
