Armenian Parliament Initiates EU Membership Process

Following approval by the cabinet, the European Union bill in Armenia has also been endorsed by the parliament.
The Armenian parliament has approved the bill on “Initiating Armenia’s Membership Process to the European Union” in the second and final reading.
After the first reading, it was reported that 64 members of parliament voted “yes” and 7 members voted “no” on the bill, which had its preamble rearranged.
The Armenian Cabinet had approved the bill on January 9th and sent it to the parliament for consideration.
During the session on February 12th, the parliament conducted the first reading of the bill. Civil society organizations had gathered 60,000 signatures for the bill to be evaluated as a legislation proposal.
