The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, conducted a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. It was revealed that Rubio informed Lavrov about the military operation initiated against the Houthis.

Details of the call were shared by the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Tammy Bruce. The statement mentioned that Marco Rubio informed Lavrov about the military operation launched against the Iran-backed Houthis. It was noted that the American minister stated that the attacks on the US military and commercial ships in the Red Sea by the Houthis would not be allowed to continue.

During the phone call between Rubio and Lavrov, they also discussed the steps to be taken after the recent meeting in Jeddah regarding the war in Ukraine. The two ministers vowed to continue working towards reestablishing communication between the US and Russia.
