Attack from Israel on Southern Lebanon, Low-Flying over Beirut

The Israel army launched a drone attack on the south of Lebanon, resulting in one casualty. There were reports that Israeli warplanes were flying low over the capital city of Beirut. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the Israeli army carried out a drone attack in the town of Aytarun in the south. The statement mentioned that one person lost their life in the mentioned attack. The official news agency of Lebanon, NNA, reported that a motorcycle was targeted in the said attack. NNA also shared information that Israel conducted an airstrike on the town of Umm et-Tut, located in the city of Sur in the south. Meanwhile, Israeli drones belonging to the army flew at low altitudes in the skies of the capital city of Beirut where the weekly Council of Ministers meeting was taking place.

The Lebanese Army also revealed last night that a group of suspects was arrested in connection with the rocket attack launched at Israel in March. The army’s statement indicated that among the arrested individuals were Palestinians accused of involvement in two rocket attacks against Israel. The attack led to extensive Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon and Hezbollah denied being behind the rocket attack. In the statement made by the army regarding the attack carried out at the end of March, it was mentioned that a vehicle used in the attack and other equipment were confiscated, and the suspects were referred to the judicial authorities. The army stated that without providing further details, operations were conducted in various regions of the country to arrest the suspects.

According to three security and one judicial source speaking to the Associated Press (AP), four Palestinians allegedly linked to Hamas were interrogated. A Hamas official who spoke to AP mentioned that some members of Hamas were recently detained in Lebanon, and those released shortly after were not involved in the rocket attack against Israel. The official also noted that among the detained individuals was a Hamas member carrying an unregistered firearm. Despite the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on November 27, 2024, Israel frequently violates the agreement. Reports suggest that hundreds of people have been killed and injured in attacks conducted by Israel following the ceasefire.
