Attempt of new attack by forces loyal to Assad in Syria thwarted

Security forces in Syria reportedly foiled an attack attempt on a military barracks in rural Latakia planned by elements of the Bashar al-Assad regime. According to a report attributed to the Ministry of Defense by the official Syrian news agency SANA, elements of the ousted regime attempted to attack a military barracks in rural Latakia. A clash occurred between security forces and the attackers. Following the clash, the attack attempt was thwarted, and four attackers were taken into custody. CIVILIANS ALSO LOST THEIR LIVES
At least 11 security personnel lost their lives in an attack launched by elements of the ousted regime in the Jableh district of Latakia on March 6. After the attack, Syrian security forces initiated a large-scale operation in the region. In the violent clashes, hundreds of individuals from both sides lost their lives, and numerous civilians also perished. Syrian President Ahmed Shawaf called for the preservation of the country’s unity and solidarity, warning security forces about the safety of civilians. The Syrian government had established an investigation committee to identify possible violations by security forces and apprehend those responsible. Officials had announced that security operations in the coastal region ended on March 10.
